Percy absently flipped his pen in the air a few times, catching it before it fell too low. He, Frank, and Hazel were sitting at a table at one of the many cafes in New Rome. Percy was lost in thought, sorting through all the memories he had recovered, remembering good times at Camp Half-Blood, while Frank and Hazel flipped through a faded book on Greek monsters.
"Wow," Frank mused, interrupting one of Percy's more vivid memories. Something with a canoe lake… "I can't believe how many monsters there are! I didn't know half of these… How many of these have you actually seen, Percy?"
"Read me a few," Percy said, putting his pen away and leaning his elbows on the metal table.
Frank flipped back to the table of contents that listed the numerous monsters that had populated Greece. "Um, it goes in alphabetical order," he said. "Cerberus?"
Percy nodded knowingly, remembering Annabeth tossing a red rubber ball to the giant dog. "Yeah, I've seen him a few times."
"Charybdis?"
Percy grimaced. "Yes. More or less fought her."
Frank's and Hazel's eyes widened in surprise, but Frank continued. "Empousa?"
"Huh. Yes, more than once. Demon cheerleaders."
Frank didn't really understand that. "The Gorgons? I know you've fought Euryale and Stheno, but what about Medusa?"
"Ha!" Percy laughed, remembering. "Yeah, I fought her a while ago. Me, Annabeth, and my friend Grover 'met' her when I was twelve."
"You fought her and escaped?" Hazel asked, unbelieving.
Percy shook his head. "I killed her. Cut off her head."
Frank's eyes widened in shock. "You were only twelve!"
"I know. I had help, though."
Frank shook his head in disbelief, but continued. "The Gray Sisters?"
"Was that ever a taxi ride from Hades."
"Harpies and Karpoi, I know you've fought or at least met those… no centaurs… How about the Chimera?"
"Yup. In the St. Louis Arch. Fell out of that thing…"
They must have sat there forever, listing monsters.
"Hippolectryon?"
"Seen them."
"Hippocampi?"
"Rode them."
"Manticore?"
"Fought him. Twice."
"Minotaur?"
"Killed him. Twice."
"Ophiotaurus?"
"Met him. Cute."
"Sirens?"
"Saved someone from them."
"Sphinx?"
"Outwitted her. With help."
"Telkines?"
"Fought quite a few of them. They almost killed me in Mount St. Helens."
"Erymanthian Boar?"
"Rode it."
The list continued through the Nemean Lion, Stymphalian Birds, Agrius and Orius, Anteus, Polyphemus, Geryon, Typhon, the Lydian Drakon, Ladon, the Hydra, Dracaena, Kampe, and Talos, all of which Percy had either met, fought, killed, or helped defeat.
By the time they'd finished, Frank and Hazel were both staring at Percy in astonishment. "Are you serious?" Frank asked. "That was almost ninety percent of the list! And you're still alive! What do they teach you all at this Camp Half-Blood place?
Percy shook his head, smiling. "Team work. I wouldn't be here if I hadn't had help with all those monsters."
"Who would be crazy enough to help you against monsters like those?" Hazel asked, though she already knew the answer.
Percy's heart sank and his smile slowly faded. "Annabeth. Always Annabeth."

One More Time
She's hugging him tight, and the Romans are gaping at them.
He doesn't mind.
All he can feel is her hair tickling his cheek, and the bone-crushing, almost unpleasant strength of her arms around him. She smells like lemon and sunshine and summer.
She pulls away slightly, her gray eyes boring into his. "Still drooling, Seaweed Brain?" she asks, a smile tugging at her lips.
He considers glaring at her, but instead he presses his face into the crock of her neck, breathing in her comforting scent. Some strands of her hair get in his mouth. He can't say he cares, though.
"Missed you, too," he mumbles.

Chivalry
When Mrs. Jackson walked downstairs to get herself a midnightwell, eleven o'clocksnack, she barely even glanced at the light coming out of the living room. (Being pregnant, and therefore constantly hungry, really diminishes one's perceptiveness.) It was only after she'd loaded a plate full of white rice, soy sauce, and maraschino cherries that she heard a soft voice coming from the other room.
Frowning, she shoved a bite of sweet and salty heaven in her mouth and padded into the living room. That was when she noticed the light; her son was sitting on the couch, talking on what had to be their house phone.
She decided t

A Different MoA Idea Pt. 3
"Vlacas!" Annabeth mutters as she slips and falls for what feels like the millionth time.
It's been about an hour since the taxi driver dropped her off at the cross streets Leo gave her. Realistically, she probably should have been at the Roman camp 25 minutes ago. That's what she thought, anyway.
But the woods are pitch black. Annabeth hadn't realized that there could be so many shades of such a specific color, but there are. The sky is black, only slightly differing from the trees, which are dark black. She can barely make out the outline of the trees that are few feet in front o
